Hello fellow substackers,
Yesterday was the last workshop of the series here at My Visual Substack. You can watch the recording here.
There were a lot of new faces. We talked about making line breaks in Canva, using tablets and other touch screen devices to make transparent background visual elements and thinking of strategy when designing frames for your post thumbnail images.
Here are some of the links we mentioned:
Color schemes:

Apps for drawing:
Tayasui Sketches in Play Store
We welcomed Vivek, who writes Learning by Proxy and wants to get more involved in his visual strategy.
Another new member in the workshop was Tatiana from Brazenface, who illustrates her posts and would also like to add photography elements, without it looking out of place.
Tami shared a bit about her experience in using a color scheme for her Substack, Outsourced Optimism.
Jack from Vegan Weekly popped in from holiday. We were vey glad to see him, even if breefly.
Murphy writes Our Medicine, where she uses color blocks to mark the post thumbnaisl in her homepage, but wants to do more visualy with her Substack.
This has been the last workshop in this series, started out by the Substack Grow program. We will probably revert to meeting at a slower pace, say once a month or two. This means we' can use a Doodle to chose the best time for everybody:)
So what I’ll do is, in two-three weeks time I’ll send a Doodle link to all of you and that will be the base for chosing the date and time for meeting in October.
Cheerio,
Jo

Hey everyone. I’ve only recently discovered this publication. I think it’s a great idea. I haven’t yet looked through every post and watched every video, but I wanted to ask if anyone has compiled a list of optimum sizes for different types of media on Substack? For example, I have noticed that square images inside posts show up best in the thumbnail for the post preview. Has anyone ever compiled a list of things like that?
Sorry my visit was so brief. The mountains can be challenging for connectivity but on the other hand, it's great to unplug and recharge 😁
